Sewer System Improvement Program (SSIP)

Nationwide, utilities are grappling with aging infrastructure, and San Francisco is no exception. Portions of our combined sewer system are over 100 years old. Routine repairs are not sufficient to keep pace with our aging and seismically vulnerable infrastructure. It is crucial that we upgrade our system now to ensure we can continue to protect public health, the environment, and our local economy. As we make these critical investments in our infrastructure, our community benefits program is also investing in a sustainable future for the people and places that make our region so special.
